Petra Haden

Bio

Petra Haden is a singer and musician who first crossed paths with Foo Fighters when her band, That Dog, supported them on several dates of their European tour in Autumn of 1995. After returning back to the US Foo Fighters continued touring and Dave would sporadically invite Petra to join them on stage, first playing Violin on the track 'Floaty' and then later moving to lead vocals. These guest vocal appearances would continue through the bands Spring 1996 tour with That Dog again supporting them on a number of shows.

In Spring of 1998 Foo Fighters were asked to record a song to be part of the soundtrack to another incarnation of the famous Godzilla franchise. The song chosen, 'A320', called for prominent strings to be featured throughout and so Haden was the obvious choice to guest on the song with the band.

In 2004 the band planned to record an ambitious double album which was half rock, half acoustic. With the acoustic half calling for prominent strings to be featured, Haden was once again called upon, providing a Violin track on the song 'Miracle'.

In the summer of 2006, after touring for the rock half of the album was concluded, the band planned to go back out in support of the acoustic side and in June 2006 Haden was announced as one of four touring musicians that would be joining the band, with tour dates running through to December of that year. She would play violin, viola as well as again singing lead vocals on 'Floaty', just as she had done a decade earlier.

In Autumn 2007 the band were heading out on tour once again with a desire for a touring ensemble to remain with them but Haden was unavailable, the band instead hiring Jessy Greene.
