Drew Hester

Bio

Drew Hester is a multi-instrumentalist most known to Foo Fighters fans as 'The Triangle Guy'. Hester first joined the band as part of an extended lineup for their 2006 acoustic tour, kicking off in the UK in June 2006 and running until later that year, suggested by friend Taylor Hawkins as a percussionist. When it came time for the band to be introduced to the crowd each member would play a short solo, with Drew electing to play a triangle solo which soon became a highlight of the show.

Following the acoustic tour the band went back into the studio to record their next album and Drew was asked along to provide percussion on a handful of tracks. He would also be involved in production of some other following sessions, assisting others at Studio 606.

Drew and some of the other extended band members remained with the band for the following 'Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace' tour, coming onto the stage to play percussion during the acoustic sections of the set, tracks like 'Skin & Bones' and 'Marigold' being played most nights from late 2007 onwards. The triangle solos also continued through the tour as something of a novelty of the set and the practice arguably piqued in June 2008 when Drew performed the solo in from of 85,000 fans at Wembley Stadium in the UK.

Drew remained on and off with the band through to November 2009, providing percussion at shows which required it, with his latest appearance coming at the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards.

He also produced Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders’ self-titled debut album along with contributing drums, percussion, and piano to the project. In addition, Drew was the cover ‘model’ for the Birds of Satan album art.
