Audience Audio
These are recordings usually (but not always) created by an audience member using consumer or prosumer
taping equipment situated in the venue via the “open air”. The quality of these recordings can vary significantly
depending on the equipment used, acoustics of the venue and many other factors.
Recordings made directly from the soundboard and related professional equipment. Sound is taken from
microphones placed on the stage, pointed at the amplifiers and drums, plus any vocal microphones.
Microphones pointed at the audience are usually also included in the mix for ambience. These recordings are usually
very high quality, but can vary.
IEM recordings come by capturing performer's in-ear monitor system, which is used to hear themselves and the other performers on stage.
Quality varies depending on whose IEM system is being captured, and the quality of the recording device. They are usually quite thin and without any crowd noise.
ALD recordings are made by capturing the audio from the assistive listening system, which is used to help audience members with hearing loss.
Quality varies depending on the venue's assistive listening system, and the quality of the feed they are provided with
A video recorded by professional videographers, usually with multiple cameras and high end equipment. These recordings are usually of very high quality with soundboard audio.
